Phonics at Harris Primary School

At Harris Primary School we use the Read Write Inc phonics scheme. This scheme was published by Oxford University Press and is followed by all teachers in school, particularly in Key Stage One. It aims to build children’s speaking and learning skills and prepare them for learning to read and write by developing their phonic skills, understanding and confidence. We aim to create children who have a love for reading and writing.

Read Write Inc is a systematic programme for teaching synthetic phonics with the aim of enabling children to become fluent readers and writers by the age of seven. It is used by a large proportion of schools in the UK.

Please speak to your child’s class teacher if you wish to know any further information.

Impact of phonics teaching 2015-2016
