Pupils working in our school garden.

The first Eco-Committee was formed in 2008 under the guidance of Mrs J Hunt (Y4 Class Teacher) with members of staff, governors and parents. We registered to take part in the Eco-Schools programme and an action plan was drawn up to decide on areas where we could, as a school, become more environmentally and ecologically aware.

During the first year various events and activities were planned for the whole school and a trip was organised to Martin Mere. By the end of the year we received the Bronze Award (first stage to the coveted ‘Green Flag’) and in the following year we received the Silver Award status.

At the end of July 2011 we heard that we had achieved “Gold Standard” or “Green Flag” status for our work on Eco-Schools projects. What a fantastic achievement and a great way to end the school year! Thank you to our Green Team members, Mrs Hunt and our Eco Committee who have helped us to achieve this prestigious award.

In November 2013 we achieved our “Green Flag’’ renewal, allowing us to fly the flag for another 2 years. Well done Green Team.

Our Eco-code:

  • Reduce, reuse and recycle whenever possible
  • Conserve and encourage wildlife in the school grounds
  • Save energy by switching off
  • Improve our school grounds for children to use
